Fire Fighting System Commissioning
Fire fighting commissioning proves that sprinklers, fire pumps, hydrants, hose reels and gaseous suppression systems will deliver the right flow, pressure and response when a fire actually happens. It is life safety, so every result is measured, recorded and ready for the civil defence witness test.

You Only Find Out in a Fire. Unless You Test First.
A fire pump that does not auto start, a flow switch that never signals the panel or a server room that leaks its FM200 in seconds will not show up on a normal day. We test each of these failure points deliberately, before the building is occupied and before the authority inspection.
Fire Fighting Systems We Commission
Wet pipe sprinkler systems
- Hydraulic design check: head type, K factor, spacing and coverage
- Main drain test and inspector’s test connection
- Alarm valve and waterflow switch, with signal to the fire alarm panel
- Pressure gauges and sprinkler head inspection
Gaseous suppression (FM200, NOVEC, CO2)
- Room integrity (door fan) test for a minimum 10 minute hold time
- Cylinder weight and pressure check
- Cross zoned detection, manual release and abort station testing
- On discharge signals: AHU shutdown, damper closure, door release, strobes
Fire pumps, hydrants and hose reels
- Electric, diesel and jockey pump commissioning with flow and pressure at design point
- Pressure relief and circulation relief valve tests
- Hydrant flow tests at the most remote point
- Hose reel flow and pressure at the nozzle
- Diesel engine run under load and alarm tests
- Pump room ventilation and alarm signals to the fire alarm panel and BMS
How We Commission Fire Fighting Systems
- Design and drawing check. Installed system compared with the approved hydraulic design.
- Pre-functional inspection. Valves, gauges, heads, pumps and cylinders inspected before testing.
- Functional testing. Each system tested to NFPA or BS EN requirements.
- Integration testing. Cause and effect with the fire alarm, HVAC and BMS confirmed.
- Authority witness. Tests repeated with the civil defence representative for official approval.
- Completion certificates with all test data and hydraulic performance records.
Room integrity tests are carried out before final fit out, so any leakage paths can be sealed without rework.
Standards We Follow
NFPA 13, NFPA 20, NFPA 72, NFPA 2001, ISO 14520, BS EN 12845, and Saudi Civil Defence requirements.
What You Receive
Fire fighting commissioning method statements · Signed test records with flow and pressure data · Room integrity test report · Cause and effect verification sheets · Completion certificates countersigned by the authority

Fire Fighting Commissioning FAQ
Do you have any question?
1. What is a room integrity test?
It is a door fan pressurisation test that checks a room protected by gaseous suppression can hold the agent long enough to put out a fire, normally a minimum of 10 minutes
2. Does civil defence need to witness fire fighting tests?
Yes. Fire suppression commissioning in Saudi Arabia is coordinated with the civil defence authority, which witnesses key tests before issuing approval. We prepare the test data and run the witness tests with them.
3. How is a fire pump tested?
We confirm the pump starts automatically on pressure drop, then measure flow and residual pressure at the design point and check it against NFPA 20. Diesel pumps also run under load for at least 30 minutes.
