1. What is the difference between commissioning and TAB?
Testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) sets the airflows and water flows of an HVAC system to their design values. Commissioning is wider. It verifies that every MEP system, including TAB results, controls and life safety, works as designed and works together before handover.
2. Do I need commissioning on a new building in Saudi Arabia?
Most major projects in the Kingdom now specify independent commissioning, especially hospitals, government buildings, data centres and LEED projects. Even when it is not mandatory, commissioning reduces defects at handover, energy waste and early equipment failures.
3. When should a commissioning firm be appointed?
As early as possible, ideally at design stage. Early appointment lets the commissioning team review drawings for testability and access before anything is built, which is far cheaper than fixing problems on site.
4. Which cities in Saudi Arabia does TABCOMM cover?
